The Mission church of St. Faith, in Newport road, was erected in 1909 at a cost of 1,000GBP, with sittings for 200. |
The Catholic church, in Terminus road, built in 1796 by Mrs. Heneage, and dedicated to St. Thomas of Canterbury. |
The Congregational chapel, in Union road, erected in 1804, with 400 sittings. |
The Baptist chapel, in Victoria road, erected in 1877 with 300 sittngs. |
The Primitive Methodist chapel, in Beckford road, erected in 1889, will hold 400. |
The Wesleyan chapel, in Birmingham road, erected in 1831, seats 550 persons. WRONG - by 1911, the 1831 chapel (today's Alexandra House) had been replaced by the new Methodist chapel, built 1900 |
The United Methodist chapel, in Mill Hil road, erected in 1889, has seatings for 500 persons. |
The public Cemetery, on Newport road, was opened in 1855, has an area of about 11 acres; a portion being set aside for Catholics, and there are two mortuary chapels ; the cemetery is under the control of a joint burial board of 6 members of the Cowes Urban Council and 3 of Northwood Parish Council |

The Foresters' Hall, Sun hill, is used for public entertainments, and will seat 600 persons.The 'Isle of Wight Herald' is published here on Friday. |
A recreation ground of 0 acres was given to the town by W. G. Ward esq. in 1859. |
A fine piece of graound, called 'Prince's Green', close to the sea was presented to the town in 1864 by George Robert Stephenson esq. and has been converted into a delightful promenade upwards of 1,000 feet in length, and provided with seats, a band stand, and a handsome drinkng fountain. |
Six almshouses were erected in 1881, on Market hill, for 12 poor and aged persons, and endowed with 72GBP yearly by the trustees of the late Rev. Thomas Binstead Macnamara M.A. |
